User friendliness of softwares
January 19, 2010
Hi folks,
Before I start bombarding you with teaser videos (in the making), etc, I would like to discuss a little something with everyone..
You know how powerful softwares has become nowadays. For those that started using the computer back from Windows 95 (and even way back, but I started from windows 95 :p) you can watch the evolution of numerous software.
Even probably the most popular software: Microsoft Office.
The powerful word processors, powerpoint presentations and excel for tables tabulation are all extremely powerful tools by their own rights BACK at their time, and even now.
Think about it: has their powerful functions been changed drastically?
..
Go on, take a few more seconds to think through.
..
..
Well, the answer is NO. At least that’s my opinion.
Back in Windows 95, Words, Powerpoint, and excel still serves the same purpose as they are today. Sure, they have more bells and whistles going on for them now but the basic functions and reasons to use them still remains.
But what has drastically changed?
You got it: The graphic user interface, also known as GUI.
Is the GUI important?
Some say yes, some believe otherwise. But think bout it: without a user-friendly interface presented to you by the GUI, would you be able to use your software efficiently? Would you be able to tap into the best features of the software?
Many softwares nowadays have primitive GUIs at best. For one, that makes learning them (from new users) more tedious and difficult. And it results in unnecessary actions to achieve a certain function.
Take the Apple Macs for example. One reason they have been praised by Mac users is because Mac users claim (I have yet to use a mac, but my girlfriend works in a Mac Reseller) that they can achieve the same task/action/feature/software as compared to a Windows PC with LESSER CLICKS of the mouse.
…
So you see, user friendliness of softwares is indeed important, at least for me. I’m sure many times we have used software only to dread reading the long tutorial or documentation manual and hope we figure out how to use the software.
And it is my aim that SEOmated will NOT fall into that category.
I have designed and planned the layout of the software such that it is as clean and sleek as possible. ALL the features are presented to you in the main page, and you can EASILY access anything from anywhere with 1-3 clicks MAX.
It is my aim that you do NOT even need to read any manuals to make use of the software. That once it is downloaded to your hard drive and executed, you can easily start utilising the software to the max just by instinctively looking at the layout.
Of course, manuals will still be written, but it will be as simple as possible. In fact, video tutorials will be created too and that will probably answer ALL your queries if you have any.
But for most, I would say you could instinctively and easily maneuver your way around with the software.
That all for today folks!
Jeff
I’m getting excited..
